Ever since Birkenstock registered its business at a church in a small German village named Langenberg in 1774, the brand has been promoting "foot health" and is dedicated to making ultra comfortable sandals and shoes. We know "comfort" is never something the fashion world cares about. Even rumor has it that Christian Louboutin are the most comfortable heels, I could tell you after I personally tested few pairs of them that I concluded that it's a lie. But they look so good, don't they?
Since Birkenstocks did not belong to the fashion world, I never had a pair of them nor I'd give compliments to friends who wore them.
However, it's clearly not up to us to decide what's in and what's out. Now Birkenstock-inspired sandals are trendy because fashion icons have approved it. Nothing is fashionable until celebrities and fashion bloggers say so. 2014 is the year of Birkenstock-style sandals - besides wedges and platforms. One thing we can say for sure is that 2014 spring and summer is about "wearing comfortable shoes."
If the Olsen Twins,Naomi Watts, Heidi Klum, Julianne Moore,Leighton Meester, fashion blogger Leandra Medine from The Man Repeller, and even Leonardo DiCaprio and Ashton Kucher are wearing them, you know it's a must-have item now.
However, given the fact that it's not an easy piece to master. I've done some research on how to wear them chic and trendy and the secret is to keep everything to the minimal and be color-consistent in your outfits. Less is more!
